COVID-19 Response
At For the Love of the Lake, we continue to follow all County of Dallas, City of Dallas, and Park Department mandates regarding COVID-19. We support social distancing guidelines and ask that everyone maintain six feet of distance from others when visiting White Rock Lake Park.
FTLOTL regrets that we cannot open our office during the during the pandemic. Dallas Park and Recreation Department (DPARD) is allowing FTLOTL to hold drive-through sign up so our volunteers can stop by to sign in and pick up supplies. Our drive-through (do not get out of your car) is open on the second Saturday of the month from 8:00 am to noon. To maintain social distancing, FTLOTL volunteers will place the supplies you need in either the trunk or back of your vehicle. To comply with State and City orders, you MUST practice social distancing from anyone other than those living in the same household while in the park.
FTLOTL supports the Governor’s executive order requiring masks when in an outdoor public space when it is not feasible to maintain six feet of social distancing from another person not in the same household.
Please note, White Rock Lake Park is owned and governed by the City of Dallas and the Park and Recreation Department. If you have concerns about people who are not following mandated guidelines, please call 311 or contact the City of Dallas.
It is with a heavy heart that For the Love of the Lake announces the passing of our good friend and board member Debbie Finger. Debbie has served on the FTLOTL board for over 12 years serving as our communications director, on the executive board, and on the Celebration Tree Grove committee. She unselfishly shared her wisdom, knowledge, and friendship with all of us on the board. We want to offer our sincere condolences to her friends and family. Many of you know that For the Love of the Lake board member Dennis L. Patrick passed away in November of 2020. Dennis was a dedicated FTLOTL board member for two years, bringing fresh ideas to the board. Before being on the board, Dennis was the HDR liaison who encouraged HDR Architecture & Engineering employees to participate each month to clean-up the HDR’s Adopt-a-Shoreline site on East Lawther. We all miss Dennis’s enthusiasm, energy, dedication, insights and strong desire to always do more.
