For the Love of the Lake is partnering with the 2024 BMW Dallas Marathon to place course monitors along the race route. Course monitors play an important role during the race. Volunteers are stationed at crucial points along the race course to help direct and cheer on runners, ensuring they do not leave the official race route. Once a month, a volunteer group of senior adults living at CC Young Senior Center, gather to perform a special task for For the Love of the Lake. In 1996, Jean Andresen had no way of knowing that a suggestion made at a volunteer meeting of the newly formed group, For the Love of the Lake, would evolve into 26+ years of volunteer service with the organization. The White Rock Lake Navy recently assisted the City of Dallas Park and Recreation department in removing numerous floating and stuck logs from White Rock Lake. This removal effort and was the second collaboration among the Navy volunteers from the Corinthian Sailing Club, The Spirit of Dallas, Dallas United Crew, White Rock Rowing and the White Rock Boat Club.
