We’re turning 27!
For the Love of the Lake was founded in April of 1996 with the vision of preserving, enhancing and advocating for White Rock Lake Park as an urban oasis. Our flagship program, Second Saturday Shoreline Spruce-Up, endures to this day and has resulted in the pickup and disposal of hundreds of tons of litter and recyclables by thousands of volunteers. We are so proud of how we have grown over the years, hosting this event on a monthly basis and seeing familiar faces and friends every time! Our April 2023 Second Saturday Shoreline Spruce-Up event attracted more than 200 volunteers picking up trash, debris and recyclables around the lake!

In our 27 years, For the Love of the Lake has expanded our program offerings to involve more of our community and inspire a true love for White Rock Lake Park. In addition to Second Saturday Shoreline Spruce-Up, we’ve also established Padillacs, Texas Stream Team, Adopt-A-Shoreline and Celebration Tree Grove.
Every April, we look forward to our annual picnic and rededication event for the Celebration Tree Grove, an ongoing restoration project To Honor, To Remember, To Celebrate loved ones by contributing to reforesting White Rock Lake Park.
Through the Celebration Tree Grove effort, we have planted 200+ news trees and maintain more than 600. Find out more about the program and learn how you can leave a legacy here.
Show your love for the lake by celebrating and volunteering with us every month!
