For the Love of the Lake is pleased to announce we have been selected as a recipient of the Buffalo Exchange Tokens for Bags® program, running from July through December 2023.
To participate, bring your own bags along to shop our local Greenville Ave. Buffalo Exchange store. Instead of a plastic bag, the Tokens for Bags® program offers every customer who makes a purchase one “token” valued at five cents (the cost to produce a bag) to donate to one of several local charities selected by the store. At check-out, indicate you’d like your token to support For the Love of the Lake!
We are deeply aware of the impact plastic bags have on White Rock Lake and our local ecosystem. Buffalo Exchange’s Tokens for Bags program has generated over $926,025 for hundreds of nonprofit organizations since 1994 and has saved over 18.5 million plastic bags from the landfill. From reducing waste through resale clothing to foregoing plastic bags, the Buffalo Exchange model complements to our commitment to preserve White Rock Lake Park.
